Massage & Bodywork

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Massage during pregnancy not only makes a woman feel pampered, but offers undeniable physical benefits as well. Massage can relieve fatigue, enhance sleep, & calm an active baby.

1st Trimester
• Relieve headaches, morning sickness, & fatigue

2nd Trimester
• Alleviate backaches • Relieve leg cramps

3rd Trimester
• Reduce swelling/edema & varicosities • Enhance sleep • Prepare pelvic muscles for birth process

During the entire term of the pregnancy, massage can stimulate blood flow, which may assist in the prevention of anemia. It stimulates your lymphatic system, increasing immunity & the removal of excess toxins, while also stabilizing hormonal levels & balancing the glandular system. An increase in muscle tone &  flexibility will occur, alleviating leg cramps & muscle spasms.

Pilcher Health & Bodyworks uses special pregnancy bolsters including a breast recess area & a “breakaway tummy” to support the pelvic area, while lying comfortably on your stomach.

POSTPARTUM MASSAGE AT YOUR HOME

Postpartum massage can be done at your home starting as early as day 2 or 3 following your birth to help you recover from labor. All equipment & supplies will be brought to you so that you may stay at home with your newborn & enjoy the well-deserved benefits. Gift Certificates are also available through this website.

Be sure to suggest it in your baby shower gift registry!

REFLEXOLOGY FOR PREGNANCY

Reflexology accesses the reflex points in the feet that correspond to the organs & regions of the body. It is very helpful during the last few weeks of pregnancy to tone & prepare the uterus for labor & delivery, energize the adrenal glands for the birthing experience, & promote hormonal release of essential hormones such as oxytocin & prolactin. It can also help initiate labor in post-dates pregnancy.
